DESCRIPTION: APW - Tremont Watch Co, Boston, very scarce 3/4 plate model, marked for retailer James Hardy, Aberdeen (UK), 15J, 18S, silver OF original consular case bearing London hallmarks for 1876, "J W" marking in oval cameo for casemaker Joseph Walton, unsigned white enamel SS dial, KWKS, gilt mvt, s#40694 with matching serial number within case. A superb example with matching movement and case serial numbers. The English made case, English style dial, and 1876 hallmark date indicate that this watch was finished by the English Watch Co. from Tremont material dispersed to this firm by Aaron Dennison. CONDITION: Mvt: Running, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, superb gilt tone, few micro-fine scratches and few very mild small bits of haze; dial with light hl within seconds-register; excellent hands; case mvt hinge has a small bit of play and opens well short of 90 degrees, case shows very light wear, small ding to band at 1:30, no dents, engine turning detail lost at shoulder; tight bow; good glass crystal.
